See wildlife by train

Now the nights are drawing in our thoughts turn to the return of migrating birds to our shores. The Exe Estuary is a vital stronghold for many over-wintering waders, ducks and geese, in particular Brent Geese, Godwits (black tailed and bar tailed) and, of course Avocets. Large flocks of Widgeon and Teal can also be seen, along with many other species (and some rarities from time to time as well). The RSPB Reserve at Bowling Green Marsh is an excellent place to visit, and why not take the time to pop in to the RSPB shop and visitor centre at Darts Farm? Topsham station is handy for both places, and they are also accessible from the Exe Estuary Trail.

Our Wildlife on and around the Exe page is a good place to start if you would like hints and tips about where to visit. The RSPB also organises a number of event locally which you might be interested in.

Get out by train and enjoy our visiting wildlife!
